The mission of the project is to create and execute interactive, high-energy presentations on youth problem gambling.

Betting On Our Future Project Goals and Objectives:

– Produced seven 30 second Public Service Announcements (PSAs) to raise awareness in the local community and to be utilized by the Office of Problem Gambling in their statewide media campaign.

– Produced  five Educational Short Film and a Live Dramatic Presentation to raise awareness and educate their community about problem gambling among youth and the resources available.

The Problem Gambling Prevention Public Service Announcement (PSA) titled, “In the Dark” focuses on gambling as more than just a game. This PSA shines light on the fact that gambling is a serious addiction similar to addictions to other drugs and alcohol. Gambling can have negative consequences on relationships between family members, especially between parent and child. Everyone can suffer from this addiction, not only just the individual gambler.

The Problem Gambling Treatment Public Service Announcement (PSA) titled, “Now or Never”, highlights the significant impact of Problem Gambling counseling on a recovering Problem Gambler who is working to rebuild his relationships with his family and community.

The educational short film titled, “Out of Tune”, addresses how a musical teenager may turn to gambling when she feels she has no other option to try to earn quick money to enter a piano competition. Youth gambling is prevalent issue in our community, yet is commonly dismissed as not an actual problem or addiction by family members and friends. This PSA aims to demystify the common perception that Gambling is an innocent game just about betting on money; instead, it is about betting on your future.
